The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) provides a credit to people that have earned income through work. Both a federal (enacted in 1975) and state credit (enacted in 2011) are available to low and moderate income working individuals and families.

In 2012, a total of $479,271,956 was distributed to 225,600 Connecticut households -- $368,705,181 in federal credits and $110,566,775 in state credits.
